A one stop shop for schedules, scores, live derby and more.
At Derby Labs, where our slogan is “better life.. through derby”, we are at it again with a whole new home for semi-high tech derby love.
Introducing the Michi-chan DERBY LOVE NETWORK!
Earlier in August, Michi-chan Sports had soft-launched a new website, Derby Love Network (derbylove.net) (“DLN”) as a single place for derby lovers and others go to for derby that is being followed by Michi-chan Sports.
derbylove.net has replaced two former Michi-chan data-releated sites (scores.michichan.com and events.michichan.com). In a future enhancement, michitv.net will also be transitioned over to DLN.
Scores and schedules
Michi-chan Sports keeps a database of recent scores and schedules for roller derby events, mainly in North America and with an emphasis on our two main operating districts in Arizona and DMVDerby (DC, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware). The actual database infrastructure was originally designed to handle multiple sports and has until recently. The database also contains the Arizona DerbyData archive that includes the scores of approximately 75% of all Arizona involved events played from when derby was first played in the state in 2003 to today.
The “Scores” menu option on DLN will eventually look at scores for the past 365 days (we have it set right now for scores in calendar year 2026). If we have a YouTube video for that game, clicking the red icon on the score listing will bring up that YouTube video. The Scores page also includes a filter so you can search for a specific team name in the scores.
We also a button on the Scores page and on the home page where a league or other person who has knowledge of any final scores can click the “Submit final scores” button in order to fill out a form to advise us of those scores. You will be able to enter in more than one score on the same day using a single form submission.
You can find information on upcoming games and tournaments on both the home page and on the “schedule” menu option. All games for the current date (including those for tournaments) are detailed in this section. For tournaments on future dates, DLN will show an entry for the tournament. Clicking on that box will bring up a separate page with a detailed list of each individual game. You can also access a list of tournaments we have in the database by clicking on the “Tournaments” top menu item.
Leagues can also send information about their upcoming games directly to Michi-chan Sports by clicking on “Tell Us About An Upcoming Game/Event”.
Rankings
Clicking on the “Rankings” menu item will take you to our daily capture of the WFTDA Live rankings.
You may also notice that in the scores and schedule listings, you will also see references to the Arizona and the DMVDerby Power Rankings.
Is DLN intended to be competition for or a replacement of Flat Track Stats?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! DLN and Flat Track Stats (FTS) serve two different purposes. FTS serves a very technical niche derby audience and serves as a historic archive while DLN is intended to approach a derby audience more causally as well as reach audiences that are not ancillary to the sport. Both platforms can easily exist here in the derbycybersphere.
Live Video
At Michi-chan Sports, we support the free-to-air live streaming of roller derby but at the same time, we need to address the difficulty of finding games, especially where multiple platforms are being used.
michitv.net Programming
In 2025, Michi-chan Sports released michitv.net (“Michi-TV”), a curated site that provides a single stop access to roller derby and other sports that are live streaming on either YouTube or Twitch. Michi-TV required the schedule to be curated and manually entered and in the case of YouTube, updated once the video ID of the live event is known.
In this first phase of live video, DLN will receive the Michi-TV schedule and during times when a live event is scheduled on Michi-TV, the home page will show the active Michi-TV channels at the top of the screen. If the user clicks on the box, it will take them to the live video embedded at Michi-TV
Twitch Monitor
For DLN, we have installed some new functionality that will monitor the status of Twitch channels that are operated by derby leagues and other content creators that we are aware of. This check is done once per minute. If one of the leagues is streaming on Twitch, the top part of the home page will turn into live mode and the Twitch channel selection will be seen. Clicking on the box will take the user directly to that Twitch channel.
The Twitch Monitor is exclusive to DLN and will not be a part of michitv.net. We will continue to schedule known Twitch events on michitv.net until Michi-TV is fully transitioned to DLN. Therefore, a user on DLN may see the same event twice in the live video section. This will go away after the transition as there will no longer be a need to pre-schedule Twitch streams.
We expect the transition of Michi-TV to DLN to take place in September, 2026.
YouTube Video of Past Events
When you visit michitv.net, you may have noticed the “Random Acts of Derby Love” section where we feature older derby related YouTube videos. When videos are posted by the leagues that we are watching on YouTube, we do gather that information and then display those at random on michitv.net.
DLN has a similar thing. At times where there is no live events in progress, the video area at the top of the page is now loaded with randomly selected derby videos from our identified channels. The section has scroll buttons so you can see what other random videos we have available. Scrolling all the way to the right will allow you to refresh the videos in that section for something different.
Also new to DLN, clicking the “Videos” menu entry will take you to a list of the derby related YouTube channels that we are tracking. Clicking on a channel (which is usually one of the leagues) will take you to a complete list of the videos that the league released on their YouTube.
This is our new national network
derbylove.net is our new home for derby love at the national (and beyond) level. DLN does not replace iwantmorederby.com nor DMVDerby.com. Both of those sites will continue to operate with their localized content.
