How we score Banana Ball games
At Michi-chan Sports (MCS), we watch the game by video like many other fans do. We do not have access to the official scoring and call it as we see it. Therefore, we may miss trick plays and will score errors as hits in certain situations. In fact, we do not track errors at all. We will track trick play missed (TPM).
Line score
We print single line Banana Ball scores for headlines, subtitles and within articles using a format that looks like this:
Visitors 4(8) ~ Bananas 6(10).
The number before the parenthesis is the number of points and the number inside the parenthesis is the number of actual runs scored [points(runs)]. Scoring achieved in showdowns are counted as points only. The team that has the most points is the winner.
Box scores
If the official Fans First Entertainment video feed (BTV) does provide a box score at the end of the game, we will provide the total points, runs, hits and trick plays as officially announced. We will advise whether we are using BTV or MCS data for those results.

Trick Plays: If the trick play involves more than one fielder, we credit the fielder who actually performs a trick play move. For example, ball is tapped off the glove of player A and player B catches it with a glove, only player A gets the TP. If player B was to catch it in their hat, then both players get a TP. Assisted TPs that are missed are charged to the player executing the TP attempt.
Again, none of our scoring should be considered “official”. Banana Ball does maintain a database of summary statistics at their website. Individual game results are not available at the site even though that is something I have been asking for.
